Pro makeup tips: how to get a red carpet look

How many of you guys watched the Emmys last night? We sure did! And just like all red carpet events, we were in love with the gorgeous makeup looks of all the celebrities! Celebrities definitely have a little help to create these flawless looks by their professional makeup artists, but with the right tips, anyone can recreate these looks! Here are the key trends we picked out to get a show-stopping, professional level makeup look:

1. Dewy skin

No matter who you saw on the red carpet, one thing they all had in common was perfectly dewy, luminous skin. This can be attributed to a few key makeup items: a great illuminating moisturizer and liquid foundation. Here’s what we recommend: Elizabeth Arden Let There Be Light Radiant Skin Lotion and Revlon Nearly Naked Makeup. The lotion is super lightweight so it is perfect to wear under your makeup, and it gives you a natural, all over dewy glow. The Revlon Nearly Naked Makeup is a lightweight liquid foundation that, like its name, does feel like you’re not wearing anything. Plus, it also leaves a nice glow to your skin.

2. All-over bronze glow

When you’re being photographed a million times, it is important to make sure you never look washed out, so a shimmery, bronze glow is crucial. The Maybelline Fit Me! Bronzer is a perfect classic powder bronzer that is versatile enough to be used over a wide range of foundations, creams, or powders because it is ultra blend able and super lightweight. To add an all-over glimmer glow, we like to use the Loreal Bare Naturale All-Over Mineral Glow because not only does it give an illuminated look with a nice natural, rosy glow, but it also acts as a finishing/setting powder to hold your makeup in place.

3. Colored eyeliner

A really popular trend right now is to venture beyond the traditional black eyeliner and go for something a little more bold and colorful. Depending on your eye color, you can choose a complimentary color eyeliner that will really make your eyes pop. The Avon Glimmersticks Eyeliner comes in 4 shades to match any eye color and has a smooth, easy to apply formula.

4. Flawless eyeshadow

The secret to getting flawless eyeshadow is to use a professionally curated color palette that compliments your eyes. The Loreal Studio Secrets Eye Shadow Quad is perfect because it comes in a ton of different colors that come with 4 shades ranging from light to dark, and it even tells you exactly where to apply each color so you look like you’ve had your makeup professionally done.

5. Show-stopping lashes

Although wearing false lashes can be a definite way to get red-carpet worthy lashes, there are definitely some mascaras that can give you a false lash effect without any of the hassle. The Maybelline Lash Sensational Full Fan Effect Volume Mascara has a formula with bold color that doesn’t clump, and its special brush actually builds your lashes up and out to give you a gorgeous fan effect like you would get from wearing false lashes.

6. Perfectly sculpted lips

The final touch for a stunning, red carpet-worthy makeup look? Glamorous, stylish lips! One of the hottest makeup trends spotted on the red carpet right now is the ombre lip, and achieving it is effortless with Cover Girl Blast Flipstick Double-Sided Lipstick. It features two complementary shades designed for a flawless gradient effect.

To create your ombre lips, apply the darker shade along the outer edges of your lips, blending inward. Then, dab the lighter shade onto the inner portions. Finish by gently blending the colors with your fingertip to perfect the seamless ombre look. Bonus: If ombre isn’t your style, you’ll have two beautiful shades to wear individually!
